It was a while since we met after school, the day I met him was as exciting as we always had back in school. Funny guy with piercing eyes as though he was looking to scare. We cooked, prayed, and did our assignments most times together. I was his business partner; he bought most of his phones from me. Our last meeting was nothing less of our previous ones, I told him I was selling my iPhone and he told me he was interested. I did say I would get back to him, but that was the last time we set eyes together. The other time we met again, he was lying flat on his back lifeless in a motionless wooden carved box called a coffin.

Why are we here?

The lifeless body of my friend drew my attention to the reason why we are here on earth. We didn’t just appear here to go to work, make a living, have kids, and die. If we are allowed to die, then it means we are also allowed to live. Death is not the end of life; death is the end of purpose. I got to understand that, we are here for a purpose.

Are you a mistake?

No human being is actually a mistake; no one I repeat. It doesn’t matter how you look like or how you act like. You were needed at this time, at this hour and this generation will be short of what they deserve if you die with your potential in you. The ancient wise book says “I chose you before I formed you in the womb, I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you to the nations.” We are all appointed, the creator brought you here for a purpose.

Why you’re not a mistake.

The average male releases between 40 million and 1.2 billion sperm cells in a single ejaculation and out of those numbers only one fertilize the ovum to form an embryo which later develops into a baby. You survived one out of millions and billions of sperms, you won your race. Everyone who steps foot on earth here is a victor, we all came to earth as Olympic champions. That’s why no one can compete with you, your uniqueness has no kind and everything about you is genuine.

If today was your last day, how would you live?

Most of us keep living lives that we find no fulfillment in, you keep getting stressed and always complaining. If any of us were told that we wouldn’t see the light of the next day, our whole way of living would be different. I don’t mean partying and making merry, most of us would sit and ask of how we impacted the people around us. If you’re a father did you show love to your kids and your spouse. Did you do something for society, how did you serve your creator, did you do all you were brought here to do?

A lot of us have contemplated so long on some things we said we would do. The idea, business, school, or relationship you promised to do, make better or change. You might have promised to make yourself better, by changing your behavior in certain things. You need to take a step and make it happen.

He who deliberates fully before taking a step will spend his entire life on one leg. — Chinese Proverb

In order to live, you need to die.

For a seed to grow into a tree, it needs to die. In order to live an impactful life, you can’t live a selfish life. Your life is not meant for you alone, it was meant to serve and until you die (give yourself wholly into your purpose) you haven’t lived. The rabbi said this 2000 years ago and that is very significant if you want to make an impact. History is filled with people who gave themselves up for things greater than themselves. They died in order to live forever.

You’re not a mistake, so leave your footprints on the shores of life.
